The Division of Human Support System is aimed to develop science which can support human life in safety, security and comfort through a comprehensive understanding of man. The Division consists of three research groups:
- Human science which, based upon physiology or psychology of man and animals, intends to understand how man feels, thinks and performs.
- Mechatronics which, by combining information science, electronics, mechanical engineering, material science or physics, etc., develops the systems, elements or devices for the support of human life.
- Computer Science which, by applying software technology, soft computing, graph theory or fuzzy theory, etc., designs interfaces or software, or builds up information network systems to ensure a more comfortable human life.
These three groups are not strictly segregated, but are mutually connected and have active collaboration with each other.
